Ed Steinfeld: The Visionary Behind Voice of Laguna

Ed Steinfeld, the creator of Voice of Laguna, has built what he calls the "most unique radio station in the world," a claim backed by his extensive experience of over 30 years in the radio industry. His career has spanned major market and national network radio, including a notable tenure with local radio. The Voice of Laguna, which debuted in June, recently moved to its new location, marking a new chapter in its journey to redefine radio broadcasting.

A Commitment to the Craft

For Steinfeld, Voice of Laguna is more than just a radio station; it's an all-consuming passion. He dedicates 14-15 hours a day, seven days a week, to ensure the station's success, demonstrating his commitment to creating a unique listening experience. This dedication is evident in the station's reach, with streaming capabilities that allow listeners from around the globe to tune in, breaking the conventional limitations of FM broadcasting.

A Blend of Music and Meaningful Conversations

Located at the intersection of PCH and Ocean Avenue, Voice of Laguna stands out not only for its physical presence but also for its innovative programming. Steinfeld's eclectic taste in music, ranging from Miles Davis to Led Zeppelin, mirrors his personal listening habits and has resonated well with the audience. This blend of genres, devoid of specialty shows, offers a refreshing departure from traditional radio formats.

The inception of Voice of Laguna under Steinfeld's leadership is a testament to his vision of creating a radio station that stands out in a crowded media environment. With an emphasis on local content, Voice of Laguna aims to be a platform where the community's voices can be heard, where local artists and musicians can showcase their talent, and where pressing issues facing Laguna and its residents can be discussed openly and constructively.

In addition to its local focus, Voice of Laguna offers a diverse range of music and news, information, and commentary designed to cater to a wide audience. From deep classic hits to contemporary chart-toppers, and from insightful interviews with local leaders to engaging discussions on global issues, the station strives to offer something for everyone. Steinfeld's expertise in curating content that resonates with listeners is a key factor in the station's ability to attract and retain a loyal audience.

Ed Steinfeld's creation of Voice of Laguna represents a significant contribution to the world of radio broadcasting. With its focus on local content, community involvement, and high-quality programming, Voice of Laguna is poised to become a beloved institution in Laguna and an example of how radio can adapt and thrive in the digital age. Under Steinfeld's guidance, the station is not just a source of entertainment, but a platform for dialogue, discovery, and community building.

A Rich and Diverse Background

Steinfeld's journey to becoming a radio visionary began in the Bronx, where he was born to Argentine parents who moved to the United States in the late '50s. Growing up in Las Vegas exposed him to a rich tapestry of musical influences, from Elvis Presley to the Rolling Stones, shaping his eclectic taste in music. His early career in Las Vegas saw him embracing various roles, from DJing in nightclubs to working in the hospitality industry, laying the groundwork for his eventual love affair with radio.

Moving to California in 1986, Steinfeld quickly fell in love with Laguna, a place he now calls home. Beyond broadcasting, he has contributed to the community as an announcer for nonprofit events, a moderator for City Council debates, and surprisingly, as a stand-up comedian, showcasing his multifaceted talents.

A Life of Love, Laughter, and Legacy

Steinfeld's personal life is equally rich, with a 19-year partnership with Ann Marie McKay. Together, they share a love for dogs, adopting many senior and disabled pets over the years. Steinfeld's love for classic black and white movies and his talent for impersonations, including a notable Jimmy Stewart and Mick Jagger, add layers to his already dynamic personality.

With plans to introduce station radio plays and live performances, Steinfeld's vision for Voice of Laguna is to recreate the golden age of radio, offering a blend of entertainment, information, and community engagement that stands unmatched.

Ed Steinfeld's Voice of Laguna is more than just a radio station; it's a testament to a life devoted to the power of broadcasting, a bridge between past and present, and a beacon for the future of radio.
