The sudden departure of the City's Community Development Director

News & Observations

Thursday, January 25, 2024 - 6 minutes

Ed breaks the news of the announcement at the end of the day Wednesday by Interim City Manager Sean Joyce that Community Development Director Marc Wiener has departed effective immediately. Ed also notes that City Treasurer Laura Parisi was booted off the dais effective at Tuesday's City Council meeting, where she has sat during her entire 20+ year tenure as City Treasurer, and the City Council followed the City Manager's recommendation to not include the City Clerk and City Treasurer's benefits in the new resolution memorializing City management staff's benefits, despite past practice of those benefits being the same. This same resolution empowered the City Manager to have severance agreement authority, approved and in effect the day before Marc Wiener's sudden departure. Coincidence?
